Harris - John F - 1900 - Montgomery InGenWeb Project

John F. Harris was born in Botetourt County, Va., Feb. 24, 1827, died in Darlington Jan. 12, 1900.  Mr. Harris moved to this county in the year 1836, coming with his father’s family to this, then almost unbroken wilderness. He has lived here continuously all these years, and by hard work and honest dealing he leaves his family comfortably fixed so far as this world’s goods are concerned. He received a good common school education when young, so that he was one of the early school teachers of this neighborhood, and at his death was taking more newspapers and reading matter than the average farmer of today.  He continued to keep in touch with all political situations of the day, and was a good conversationalist on almost any subject. He leaves a wife and one son at home, a married daughter living south of here, and a host of friends, relatives and neighbors to mourn. His funeral was conducted Sunday at the Lutheran Church by Rev. Frybarger, of Lebanon. -s
